What it does
Boring Avatars supplies a React component for abstract and face-like SVG profile pictures. A separate subscription service delivers avatars through hosted URLs.
Give the component a name, a palette and a variant to define the avatar. Its six variants include marble, beam and bauhaus; the size and square settings control the presentation. A title setting adds an SVG title. Keep these values together when handing a design to a developer.
Library or hosted service
The React library uses the MIT licence, with its copyright and permission notice retained. The hosted API is a separate subscription with URL parameters for the same main visual choices. It restricts requests to designated domains: checkout covers one production domain and one development domain. Endpoint instructions are sent within 24 hours, so integration is not an instant checkout step.
Strengths
- Palette and variant settings help avatars fit a product’s visual style
- SVG output can be sized for different profile placements
Watch out for
- Hosted access is limited to the registered production and development domains
Best for
- React interfaces that need generated profile illustrations
