What it does
BrickLink Studio is a 3D brick-building application with a parts palette, placement tools and model or parts-list export options.
Connection settings change what a placed brick means. With Snap and Collision enabled, Studio attempts a connected, valid placement. Disabling them allows disconnected or intersecting arrangements, which can be useful for an illustration but needs attention if the design is intended to be built.
To begin a small structure, choose a part from the building palette, move into the viewport and click or press Space to place it. This method lets you navigate the camera before committing the position. Dragging directly from the palette is another route, but camera navigation is unavailable while carrying the part that way.
Keep the native .io design for revision. File, Export As can produce LDraw, Collada, POV-Ray or parts-list forms for different purposes. A spreadsheet list describes the selected pieces, while a 3D interchange file serves a different handoff; neither should be mistaken for the complete editable Studio project.
Strengths
- Snap and collision controls assist connected brick placement.
- Model and parts-list exports support different handoffs.
Watch out for
- Turning off collision permits physically intersecting parts.
- Camera navigation is unavailable while dragging a new part from the palette.
Best for
- Virtual brick constructions
- Brick models that need geometry and parts-list outputs
