What it does
Bridgeman Images licenses art, cultural and historical imagery and footage from museums, archives and artists. Content tiers distinguish standard material from collections with additional artist or premium fees.
Use a field search such as artist:monet or title:pony, then save candidates to a lightbox. Sign in to download. For online purchases, choose the usage, pay and download the file; images normally arrive as JPGs and footage as MP4.
Premium and Premium+ services include the represented artist’s copyright clearance, but model, trademark and other third-party rights remain separate. Standard content may also need artist permission from another representative.
Some files await collection approval or a new high-resolution scan. An Account Manager handles those requests, and researchers can investigate material held offline.
Strengths
- Field searches and lightboxes support precise picture research.
- Researchers can investigate offline footage collections.
Watch out for
- Some images need separate rights clearance or additional delivery time.
Best for
- Picture researchers licensing art and historical imagery
