What it does

BuddyBoss adds profiles, feeds, groups and messaging to a WordPress website. The core platform is free, with paid web plans for additional features; hosting and the native mobile app cost separately. Setup and community controls use your WordPress administrator account.

Shape the activity feed around members' connections, followed accounts and groups, or expose selected content types across the community. Public, private and hidden groups give a professional network room for open introductions and closed committee discussions.

To place new blog posts in the feed, open BuddyBoss Dashboard > Settings > Activity in WordPress. Under Posts in the Activity Feeds, select WordPress Posts and save. Each newly published blog post then produces an activity item. If the author appears incorrectly, check which account the publishing plugin uses.

Feed controls also cover who may post, how long members can edit their comments and whether a post remains open to replies. Pin to Feed keeps a welcome message or announcement above newer updates.

The free platform supplies the core community. Paid web prices are in USD:

Plan First year Annual renewal
Launch 199 399
Scale 349 699
Done For You Web 2,149 2,499

Launch adds the theme and learning integrations; Scale adds gamification, media offload and member blogging. Done For You includes a site build. Each licence covers one production site; hosting and native apps cost separately. The FAQ describes a 2.9% Start fee on BuddyBoss Memberships and Courses sales, removed on Launch and Scale. Third-party learning and commerce plugins are excluded.

Strengths

  • Feeds can reflect a member's connections and group activity
  • WordPress blog posts can appear automatically in community activity

Watch out for

  • Hosting and native apps are separate purchases
  • Introductory web-plan prices increase at annual renewal

Best for

  • WordPress site owners building a branded member network around courses or professional groups
