What it does
Buddy helps people plan spending, record purchases and share a budget with a partner or roommate. Separate spending, saving and debt accounts contribute to a combined view of finances. The Apple app offers optional bank imports and a paid Premium subscription.
A shared Buddy budget can represent the expenses a pair actually manages together. Invite the other person, choose categories that fit the household and add transactions as purchases occur. The shared budget keeps that joint spending together, while separate account records track spending, savings and recorded debts. Agreeing which costs belong in the shared plan makes its totals more useful.
Buddy’s Split feature identifies who paid and the amounts needed to settle up. It can therefore serve a holiday group as well as an ongoing household budget. Optional bank connections import account information through providers that Buddy identifies as Plaid and Salt Edge. Connection availability and refresh frequency depend on the bank and provider. Disconnecting stops future collection, but Buddy’s privacy policy says it does not automatically erase information already collected.
The US App Store description lists Premium at US$9.99 per month or US$49.99 per year. Purchases and subscription management go through Apple. A trial, when offered, converts to the selected subscription unless cancelled under its terms. The current Apple listing supports iPhone and iPad, with Apple Watch support. Buddy’s terms set a minimum age of 13, with parental permission and supervision for minors.
