What it does
ShareCost is BudgetBakers' free app for shared expenses on the web, iOS and Android. It keeps group balances for trips and households, including purchases in different currencies and entries made offline. An account is needed to create and manage groups.
Create a group for the shared flat or trip, then invite its members with a code, link or QR code. Each purchase records who paid and how it should be divided: equal parts, shares, percentages or exact amounts. Leave out anyone who did not take part in that expense. The resulting balances suggest who should pay whom to settle with fewer transfers.
On a trip, enter each purchase in its original currency. ShareCost converts it to the group's common currency using an exchange rate recorded with the expense. Costs entered without a connection synchronize when the device is online again.
Moving from Splitwise is a separate task for each group. Export that group's expenses as a spreadsheet, create the corresponding group in ShareCost and upload the file. Check that members and amounts line up before inviting everyone to continue.
Current pricing offers unlimited groups and members at no charge, with no trial deadline or card requirement. The browser version is at my.sharecost.app; mobile users can install the iOS or Android app.
