What it does
CalcTape retains numbers, operators and comments in an editable tape, recalculating later results when an earlier item changes.
CalcTape keeps items, operators and comments on an editable tape and recalculates after changes. Its free Web edition needs no account and documents a 500-line limit, automatic browser-local saving and loss when browser data is cleared. Save downloads a .calc file for the native apps; Web cannot reopen that file, so use its share link for browser transfer. The link carries the calculation itself and anyone holding it can read it. Opening a link offers Replace, Append or Cancel when existing content is present; PDF and text output are also available. Windows/Android freeware is for private use, with commercial use in paid editions; Mac/iOS are paid. Current Windows6 remains downloadable while its rebuild is in development and new version6 Pro licences are not being sold.
Strengths
- Editable calculation history with comments
- Changes propagate through later results
Watch out for
- Windows and Android freeware are licensed for private use; commercial use requires the appropriate paid edition. CalcTape Web is described separately as a free service.
Best for
