What it does
Calibre Audio lends audiobooks to people unable to see, read or comprehend printed text. Personal membership is paid, while schools can access the service free.
Check the print-disability criteria, then choose the listening route. Calibre Audio supports Dolphin EasyReader on iOS and Android, alongside other listed options. Personal monthly or annual membership is paid, with a separate free offer for schools.
Overseas membership is available to eligible readers living in the EU or a country where the Marrakesh Treaty has come into force. These members can stream and download, but the USB postal service is unavailable outside the UK. That makes residency and delivery format separate checks before joining.
Strengths
- Several supported listening routes
- Separate school access offer
Watch out for
- Overseas membership has country eligibility rules
- USB postal loans are restricted to the UK
Best for
- Readers with print disabilities seeking audiobook membership
