What it does

Calligraphr turns handwritten characters into TTF or OTF font files. You fill a customised template, upload it and edit the scanned characters before generating the font. A free account supports fonts with up to 75 characters; Pro increases the limits and adds ligatures and individual spacing controls.

Make a font from your handwriting

Choose the characters for a template, fill its cells with your handwriting and bring the completed template into Calligraphr. The editor lets you clean up scanned characters and adjust their height. Character variants can make repeated letters look less uniform; ligatures combine character sequences into a single joined shape.

The Free plan allows one font in progress, 75 characters and two variants per character. Pro allows 20 concurrent fonts, 600 characters and 15 variants, plus ligatures, individual character spacing, backup and server storage.

Pro is listed at EUR 10 for one month, or EUR 6 per month for a six-month upgrade. You can choose a one-time upgrade or recurring subscription. The downloaded font keeps working after Pro ends. Calligraphr states that fonts you create belong to you and can be used commercially.
