What it does

Barracuda VPN Client connects remote devices to CloudGen Firewall resources, separately or within the Windows Network Access Client suite.

Barracuda lets an organization deploy the VPN client alone or alongside its Windows network-access components. The suite adds health assessment and a managed personal firewall, while the VPN client handles the remote connection. Separating those components helps an administrator decide which endpoint functions a rollout actually needs.

The documented VPN controls include selective routing, gateway redundancy and several authentication methods. SAML operates separately from the other listed authentication methods, so an SSO design should follow its specific instructions. Barracuda supplies separate macOS and Linux clients as well; the Windows suite's complete component list should not be assumed on every platform.

Strengths

  • Standalone or suite-based Windows deployment
  • Selective routing and redundant-gateway support

Best for
