What it does
Cashew is an open-source budgeting app for iOS, Android and the web. It supports custom budget periods, category spending goals, several accounts and currencies, and entries for upcoming bills or money lent and borrowed. The core tracker is free, with optional Pro purchases on mobile.
A travel budget does not have to follow a calendar month in Cashew. Create a period that matches the trip and include its relevant transactions. Goals can associate entries with a purchase or saving purpose, while CSV and Google Sheets imports help bring in existing records.
To create a budget, open More > Edit, Delete, and Reorder Data > Budgets and tap the plus button. Choose Added Only for selected transactions, or All Transactions to include records matching your filters. That type cannot be changed later. A custom date range runs once; recurring periods keep a history. Changing a recurring budget's target also changes the target shown for past periods.
Local use, synchronization and Pro
Cashew stores records on the device and offers optional Google Drive backup and synchronization. Local tracking does not require linking a Google account. For synchronization, use More > Login / Backup > Sync/Devices and enable Sync Data on each device. Changes must upload from the first device before the other can download them.
The US iOS store lists Pro at US$1.49 a month, US$11.99 a year or US$19.99 for lifetime access. iOS and Android purchases are separate, and the web app does not support Pro. The source code is available under GPL version 3 or later.
