What it does

CCExtractor converts closed captions from supported media into external subtitle files. It provides command-line and graphical routes and options for real-time and WebVTT workflows.

Run CCExtractor on recordings that already contain captions, selecting the input files, caption field/services and output format. SubRip is the CLI default; WebVTT, SCC and plain/timed transcripts are other choices. Output names normally derive from the source, or can be specified explicitly; --stdout sends subtitle output to the console and messages to stderr. Existing files can be overwritten, while --append adds output instead. Multiple inputs are normally treated as sequential parts of one recording; --videoedited changes that timing behavior for edited sources. For HLS-oriented WebVTT, the timestamp-map header must be enabled and is off by default for ordinary-player compatibility. The GPL2 project offers a scriptable CLI and GUI routes.
