What it does
CGMood is a model and material marketplace for architectural visualisation. It combines style, renderer and image searches with file-tree previews, individual credit purchases and optional Pro access.
Start with a mood, renderer filter or reference image. Image search can focus on a cropped detail, while semantic search accepts a description of the object you need. Sign in to inspect an asset's file tree before purchasing. CGMood says it checks platform and renderer labels against the uploaded archive during moderation.
A listing shows its credit cost, application versions and archive formats. Amber Stool, for example, costs four credits and lists 3ds Max 2017 variants for V-Ray and Corona, plus OBJ and FBX. Its visible archive summary includes material and image files; the full tree requires login. Those are that asset's contents, not a promise about every model.
Purchase credits by card or PayPal and spend them on labelled assets. Each credit costs EUR 1.50 plus applicable VAT and expires after 12 months. Verified accounts can download three free assets daily. Pro is advertised at EUR 6 per month, with 240 free downloads monthly, selected discounts and subscriber-only items.
Current licences permit assets in personal and commercial outputs, including client work. Participants may receive source files when necessary for that specific project, but cannot keep an independent reusable library. Games need reasonable protection against extracting the original asset. A model of a branded product also does not grant the right to manufacture and sell the depicted design.
Keeping a valid licence and retaining access to another download are separate matters: legal, rights or security issues can restrict future access.
Strengths
- Signed-in users can inspect the supplied file tree before paying.
- Image cropping and style filters offer different ways to narrow a search.
- The licence defines project-specific source access for collaborators and clients.
Watch out for
- Unused credits expire 12 months after purchase.
- Collaborators need their own licence for unrelated reuse.
- A valid licence does not guarantee indefinite redownload access.
Best for
- Choosing renderer-compatible assets for architectural scenes
- Client projects that need a clearly scoped source-file handoff
