What it does
CGTrader is a marketplace for reusable 3D models, including real-time assets and models intended for 3D printing. Listings, technical standards and seller-selected licences help distinguish the available files.
A model search should begin with the intended output. A printable ornament, an animated character and a background prop require different checks even if their previews look equally finished. CGTrader separates 3D-printing content from other model categories, and its technical quality guidance describes matters such as FBX delivery and PBR textures. Use those details to build a shortlist rather than inferring readiness from the render.
Put the asset into a production brief
For a background prop, write down the target application, texture requirements and expected viewing distance before comparing listings. Inspect the included formats and any rigging or topology description against that brief. A quality label cannot decide whether the object suits a particular camera or scene budget.
The seller chooses the licence. The terms distinguish ordinary Royalty Free, Royalty Free No AI and Editorial use, and free products also retain their assigned terms. Keep the applicable licence with the project’s asset notes; a zero price does not settle the permitted use.
