What it does

Chainlist is a public directory of EVM networks, the blockchain networks that run Ethereum-style software. It lists chain identifiers, native currencies, explorers and RPC endpoints used by wallets and applications.

Match a wallet setting to a network

Search for a network, then check its chain ID and currency. Turn on Include Testnets when you need a development network. Individual chain pages also list explorers and RPC endpoints, the server addresses a wallet or application uses to communicate with that blockchain.

The RPC table has height, latency, score and privacy columns. These help organize the connection options; the displayed values depend on the endpoint and the current check. A Connect Wallet control is available alongside the network details, while reading the directory does not require connecting a wallet.

Reuse or contribute network information

The project's documented JSON endpoint returns chain information together with RPC lists for software that needs this registry. Its GitHub repository also explains how to propose a new chain or add an RPC endpoint through a pull request.

Chainlist publishes its own code under GPL-3.0. That license covers the project, not the operating terms or logging practices of every RPC provider listed in it.

Strengths

  • Search and testnet filtering narrow down network configurations.
  • Chain pages combine identifiers, explorers and RPC choices.
  • A documented JSON registry supports reuse by applications.

Watch out for

  • Listed RPC servers are run by separate providers with their own operating terms.

Best for

  • Checking network details before configuring an EVM wallet
  • Developers maintaining a chain and RPC registry
