What it does
Check-Host offers remote ping, HTTP, DNS, TCP and UDP checks with domain and IP-location information.
Enter a hostname or address and choose the check that matches the question. Ping compares latency and loss from Check-Host nodes; HTTP tests website responses, DNS returns selected records and TTLs, and TCP or UDP checks use a specified service port. Read each location as a separate observation. The FAQ explains two common traps: losing all four ping packets can mean either an unavailable server or blocked ICMP, while no UDP answer is reported as “Open or filtered.” An unreachable-port reply is reported differently. Its geolocation labels come from multiple databases, and the check API is separate from IP information, for which the FAQ says no API is available.
