What it does
Chinabank's My CBC combines account history, electronic statements, saved payees and bills in a Philippine banking app. You can send money to bank accounts or arrange local cash pickup for someone without an account. English and Traditional Chinese are available.
Schedule a bill and keep the confirmation
Open Pay, choose a saved biller or enter a new biller's reference, then select the paying account and amount. Under When, choose Now, Later or Recurring. A recurring payment also needs a frequency and number of occurrences. Review and authenticate the instruction; My CBC displays confirmation and sends email and SMS notices.
Bills are free to pay. The banking-day cutoff is 7pm; later, weekend and holiday instructions are processed the next banking day. Chinabank also lists My CBC transfers through InstaPay and PESONet as free. These are Philippine interbank payment systems.
Saved billers and payees reduce repeated entry. Local remittances use cash pickup at a Chinabank branch or an authorized outlet, while account transfers need the recipient's account details.
Opening and maintaining an account
Online opening is for new Filipino customers aged at least 18, with a permanent Philippine address, active contact details and accepted Philippine-issued identification. In My CBC, choose Open your account now, select the account, complete the forms, verify the code, scan your ID and take a selfie. Sign, review and submit, then create login credentials. Chinabank allows two days for application review.
ATM Savings needs immediate funding and a PHP 2,000 monthly average daily balance. Peso savings accounts incur a PHP 300 monthly maintenance charge after falling below the required average for at least two consecutive months. Closing a peso savings account within 90 days also costs PHP 300.
Joint accounts require a branch. Online-opened accounts also need a branch request to enable over-the-counter transactions.
Strengths
- Scheduled and recurring bill payments with confirmation records
- Free My CBC bills and supported bank transfers
- Cash-pickup remittances do not require a recipient bank account
Watch out for
- Low average balances can trigger a PHP 300 monthly fee
- Joint opening and enabling over-the-counter access require a branch
Best for
- Chinabank customers paying recurring Philippine bills
- People sending local remittances to cash-pickup recipients
