What it does
Colorway links a browser colour-picker extension with palette, scale and contrast tools. It shares collected colours through history and offers free use without an account.
Pick a page pixel with the extension and its HEX value goes into the clipboard and shared history. The web palette tool then lets you reorder up to five colours and share them as a link. Chrome, Edge and Brave are supported, and the extension can keep working offline.
The Scales tool turns a chosen colour into tints towards white, shades towards black or a gradient between two endpoints. Copy the resulting CSS variables or download JSON when moving the scale into a project.
For a particular text and background pair, the contrast tool displays separate results for normal text, large text and interface elements. It suggests a passing text colour when the pair fails and provides a link to share that check. Those results concern the chosen pair and role, so a palette link should not be read as approval of all its combinations.
Strengths
- The extension and web tools share collected colour history.
- Scales export directly as CSS variables or JSON.
- Contrast checks can be shared as their own links.
Watch out for
- The palette builder supports up to five colours.
Best for
