What it does
Cloudflare Stream stores, encodes and distributes video through a unified service, with an included player or integration with another player.
Cloudflare Stream handles upload, encoding and delivery through a managed video pipeline. A developer can use its built-in player or integrate an existing player, while live inputs use RTMP or SRT and delivery uses HLS or DASH. This is useful when an application needs video without operating a separate encoding and delivery stack.
Usage is metered in stored minutes and delivered minutes. A library with a small audience and a short live event with many viewers can therefore have different cost patterns. Estimate both the retained catalogue and expected viewing before comparing it with a flat hosting plan.
Strengths
- The service combines upload, encoding and delivery functions.
