What it does
CodeImage is a code screenshot tool with syntax themes, colours and window styling. It also provides ways to share and embed snippets, and publishes its application under the MIT licence. The image editor opens without signing in.
Add your code, select a syntax theme and adjust the window and background styling. Export Settings provides PNG, SVG and JPEG choices, and an output-resolution preview.
Open Export to choose the file type and image scale. JPEG adds a quality control.
An anonymous editing session is saved in the browser. Signing in opens the dashboard and enables remote project saving; it is separate from creating an image download.
CodeImage’s software is free to use and modify under MIT. Distributing copies of the application requires retaining its copyright and licence notice.
Strengths
- A shared snippet can be cloned into an editable copy.
- The export controls can isolate the active code tab without changing the other tabs.
Watch out for
- JPEG output cannot preserve transparency.
- Device sharing is available only in browsers that support it.
Best for
- Developers building a series of visual code examples
