What it does

CoinTrade is a Japanese-language crypto broker with one-off buying and selling, scheduled purchases, staking and lending services. Its account setup uses a mobile app and identity verification. The recurring-purchase service lets eligible residents of Japan buy on a daily schedule or a selected monthly date.

Who can open a CoinTrade account?

Personal accounts are for Japan residents aged 18 through 79 who meet the other account conditions. Foreign residents can submit either a residence card or a certificate of special permanent residence. The residence documentation must have at least three months remaining.

Registration starts with an email address and password. Download the app, sign in, confirm your phone number by SMS and complete the online identity process. The guide uses an ID chip scan and checks your name and address.

Funding and scheduling

To deposit yen in the app, open 入出金 (Deposits/Withdrawals), choose 入金 (Deposit), then 日本円 (Japanese yen). Use the bank details shown there and transfer from an account in your own name. Transfers under another person's name, including a family member's, require a return process.

The home screen's 積立 option opens recurring purchases. Schedules can run daily or monthly on the 5th, 15th or 25th. Keep enough yen in the account for the scheduled purchase. CoinTrade sends an email if execution fails, for example because the balance is too low, price changes put the order outside size limits, or updated terms require acceptance.

Account opening and maintenance are free. Consult the fee schedule and the transaction quote for trading and withdrawal costs.

Staking and lending have their own application routes and terms. They commit crypto to a different activity from a purchase and should be assessed separately.

Strengths

  • The app supplies the bank details for a deposit from your own account
  • Recurring buys can run daily or on one of three monthly dates

Watch out for

  • Personal accounts require residence in Japan and an age between 18 and 79
  • Foreign applicants need residence documentation with at least three months left

Best for

  • Japan residents who want yen-funded purchases on a regular date
