What it does

Coinalyze publishes cryptocurrency derivatives data, including open interest, funding rates, liquidations and long/short ratios. Public charts and a free API support research, while an optional subscription removes website advertising.

The Bitcoin page separates perpetual contracts from dated futures and links to individual exchange contracts. Its aggregated open-interest figure combines coin-margined and stablecoin-margined contracts in USD notional terms. The raw indicators use different units, so read the indicator description before comparing them.

Use the indicator settings to include or exclude individual contracts. The dedicated open-interest page says its chart is not yet real time and points readers to Markets for real-time charts. A figure from that page should therefore not be described as an immediately executable market quote.

Public market pages are free to browse without signing in. The Ad-Free Version costs $10.95 per month, removing advertisements and ad tracking while giving the chart more space. That subscription is separate from the free data API.

For an API history request, first select the supported market symbol, then supply an interval and start and end timestamps in seconds. Results arrive in ascending time order. Intraday intervals retain roughly 1,500 to 2,000 observations, with older points removed daily; daily bars are not removed under that policy. Downloading a long backfill later may therefore be impossible for a short interval.

API access requires registration and a key. The limit is forty calls per minute per key. A request can include up to twenty symbols, but each symbol counts as a call. If the service returns a rate-limit response, follow its Retry-After value before requesting more data.

Strengths

  • Individual contract links help explain the composition of an aggregate
  • API documentation states both retention rules and per-symbol request accounting

Watch out for

  • Older intraday history is removed rather than retained indefinitely
  • The dedicated Bitcoin open-interest chart is not advertised as real time

Best for

  • Comparing futures positioning across supported contracts
  • Building derivatives datasets with an explicit collection schedule
