What it does

CoinCodex combines cryptocurrency prices and charts with watchlists, portfolio tracking, alerts and prediction pages. Public market data can be browsed without an account. Its portfolio lets you enter coin quantities and view changes across time periods, with companion apps for iOS and Android.

For a quick comparison, choose the market-table period and the number of coins displayed before looking at gainers or losers. The default set can hide smaller assets. CoinCodex calculates cryptocurrency prices from volume-weighted market prices, while market capitalization uses circulating supply. It may omit a market cap when that supply figure is unavailable or unreliable.

Build a personal holdings view

  1. Open Portfolio and choose Add Coin.
  2. Select the cryptocurrency and enter the quantity you hold.
  3. Add further coins, then choose the period for the performance view.
  4. Use the pie-chart icon for Portfolio Overview, or the eye icon to hide amounts while leaving percentage changes visible.

Holdings can be edited or removed later. The mobile apps also provide portfolio views and home-screen widgets. This is a record of quantities you enter, rather than custody of the coins.

Watchlists use the star next to a coin. Price alerts offer a separate way to follow a level without repeatedly checking a chart. Public prices and portfolio instructions are accessible without paying to read them.

Prices and predictions serve different purposes

Historical charts describe market observations; algorithmic prediction pages are estimates. A prediction is not a price available for a trade. CoinCodex itself is an information service, so buying or selling requires a separate provider.

Developers should check permission before reusing data outside personal use. The FAQ restricts storing, distributing or selling data without written agreement, even though selected attributed content can be displayed under its stated conditions.

Strengths

  • Quantity-based portfolios include a breakdown view and an option to hide amounts.
  • Watchlists, alerts and historical charts provide several ways to follow selected coins.

Watch out for

  • A market cap can be omitted when circulating-supply data is unreliable.
  • Reusing or distributing the data can require written permission.

Best for

  • People keeping a manually entered record of cryptocurrency holdings
  • Visitors comparing current prices with historical charts
