What it does

CoinPaprika offers free cryptocurrency prices, market rankings and research pages without requiring an account. Its API has a key-free personal tier and paid subscriptions for greater history and usage. Displaying API data to customers requires an Enterprise agreement, even when an internal commercial plan is already paid for.

CoinPaprika separates price performance from trading activity. On the homepage, Trending compares a coin's last 24 hours of volume with its average daily volume over the previous six days. That is different from a list of the biggest price gainers. The table shows a UTC update time, and public prices, news and guides can be browsed without signing in.

API plans

Prices below are USD per month before tax.

Plan Monthly calls Daily-price history Main use limit
Free, $0 20,000 per IP One year Personal use; 2,000 assets
Starter, $99 400,000 Five years Internal commercial use
Pro, $199 1 million Full available history Internal commercial use
Business, $799 5 million Full available history Internal commercial use
Ultimate, $1,499 10 million Full available history Internal commercial use
Enterprise, quoted Unlimited monthly calls Full available history Negotiated display and redistribution

Daily price history is not the same as candle history or intraday data; those allowances vary separately. Full history begins with each asset's first recorded data point.

To retrieve a ticker, select CoinPaprika's coin ID, such as btc-bitcoin, and use it in the ticker request. Read the update time and quote currency alongside the price. Free requests need no account or key. Paid requests use the separate pro host with a key in the Authorization header.

All plans retain a ten-request-per-second IP limit and attribution requirements. Reaching an allowance returns a limit error rather than automatically charging an overage. Paid access renews monthly unless canceled from the account, and it continues until the stated end date after cancellation.

Strengths

  • Public market views distinguish volume acceleration from price performance.
  • API pricing separates usage, historical depth and licensing rights.

Watch out for

  • Customer-facing display or redistribution requires an Enterprise agreement.
  • Daily-price, intraday and candle histories have different plan limits.

Best for

  • Developers comparing personal and commercial crypto-data access
  • Researchers using public rankings with visible update times
