What it does
Colorable combines a text-and-background preview with a JavaScript colour-comparison library. The browser tool shows the contrast ratio and grade while you adjust the pair.
Use the text and background inputs to enter colours, then tune hue, saturation and lightness. Reverse swaps the pair; Random supplies another starting point.
For a predefined brand palette, install the colorable package and pass an array of colours or an object containing names and colour values. It returns the possible pairings with ratios and separate AA/AAA flags for ordinary and large text.
The threshold option removes pairings below a chosen contrast level, while compact reduces the returned data to the values needed for a comparison. Duplicate input colours are removed by default. The package is offered under the MIT licence.
Strengths
- Named palette inputs retain their names in compact output.
Watch out for
- The npm workflow requires JavaScript; the web preview compares one pair at a time.
Best for
- Developers checking combinations within an existing brand palette
