What it does
colorate builds colour schemes around a chosen starting value. Its detail pages show base, main and accent roles, numeric conversions and related tints, shades and blends.
Choose a starting colour, then compare schemes based on the same hue, nearby hues or complementary accents. Each scheme lists its component RGB and HEX values and includes a clipboard-copy control.
A colour’s detail page goes further than the initial palette. Linked swatches vary tint, shade, hue, saturation and brightness, so one choice can become the next starting point. CSS examples supply the colour and background-color declarations for the selected value. The home page also offers two-colour blends.
The contrast section compares the selected colour with black and white text or backgrounds. It is useful for that specific pairing; it does not evaluate every combination in the suggested scheme.
Strengths
- Base, main and accent colours have explicit numeric values.
- Linked variations make it easy to explore around one starting colour.
Watch out for
- The contrast view covers the selected colour against black and white.
Best for
- Exploring schemes around a known brand colour
