What it does
Color Finale supplies Mac post-production tools, including the Color Finale 2 grading plugin, Transcoder and LUT Manager. Color Finale 2 Pro combines correction layers, masks, film effects and reusable looks within Final Cut Pro. Pro is purchased once and includes one year of updates.
Version 2.15 organizes camera input choices by manufacturer and log format. A Look loads a complete set of corrections, film-emulation and colour-management settings together with its layer stack. Open those layers to adjust the treatment, then save the .cflook file for another clip or share it with a colleague.
Pro also provides person, shape and colour-based masks for selective adjustments. Its LUT layers have separate Tone and Chroma controls, so contrast and colour strength can be changed independently. Grain, halation, bloom and print-stock treatments provide further finishing controls. LUT export offers another way to reuse colour adjustments.
| Color Finale 2 edition | Price |
|---|---|
| Standard | USD 119 |
| Pro | USD 169 |
Prices exclude local taxes. Pro is a perpetual licence with one year of included updates; later updates require extending that coverage. The seven-day trial provides Pro features, with one trial per computer.
The plugin works on Intel and Apple-silicon Macs running compatible Final Cut Pro versions. A licence supports two computer activations and needs internet access for activation and periodic checks. It can be transferred to different machines three times before contacting support.
Strengths
- A Look stores the full correction and layer setup in a reusable file.
- Tone and Chroma controls separate a LUT’s contrast from its colour strength.
Watch out for
- The grading plugin is restricted to Final Cut Pro on Mac.
- Activation and periodic licence checks need an internet connection.
- The perpetual Pro purchase includes one year of updates.
Best for
- Final Cut Pro editors who want layered grading and reusable looks in the timeline.
