What it does
ColorKit brings palette generation, gradients, image colour extraction and contrast tools into one browser site. Its free generators can start with an existing colour, a visual style or a written prompt, then produce colour values, share links and image exports.
Keep an anchor while exploring
Enter a hex value, lock its swatch and generate alternatives around it. Harmony modes include complementary and analogous arrangements. Drag swatches to reorder them, or adjust hue, brightness, saturation and temperature across the whole palette.
Export provides a PNG, a CSV or array of hex values, and a link that recreates the palette. Saving a named palette to the site uses a free account.
Turn the colours into a background
The gradient editor places stops along a bar. Drag a stop or enter its position, then choose linear, radial or conic blending. Rotation changes linear and conic gradients; radial gradients spread from the centre. Copy CSS for a stylesheet or export a PNG for fixed image placement.
Strengths
- Locked swatches survive new palette generations
- Whole-palette adjustments retain the relationship between colours
- Exports include image, data and share-link routes
Watch out for
- Saving named palettes on the site uses an account
- Rotation has no effect on radial gradients
Best for
- Exploring a web palette around an existing brand colour
- Preparing related palette and background assets
