What it does
ColorOf organises named colours by temperature, lightness and chroma, with hexadecimal values and linked colour details. Its companion tools compare and mix colours, generate gradients and preview colour-vision differences.
Use the temperature and lightness matrix when a colour direction is easier to describe than its code. Selecting a named swatch opens numeric values, variations and related palette information. Keep the hexadecimal value with the name when sharing a choice.
The gradient tool takes two endpoint colours and displays their values in several models, including RGB, HSL, CIELAB and OKLCH. Choose three, five, seven or nine samples and an orientation to obtain intermediate swatches. It provides modern CSS using Oklab interpolation and a separate fallback with explicit colour stops. These two outputs give developers a choice of browser implementation.
Strengths
- The matrix allows browsing by visual qualities.
- Gradient output includes both modern and fallback CSS.
Watch out for
- A descriptive colour name alone does not specify a universal value.
Best for
- Exploring a colour direction and preparing a CSS gradient
