What it does
ColorPalettes.net publishes palettes manually assembled by designer and photographer Alex Romanuke. Each entry pairs a photograph with colour codes, descriptive tags and links to similar palettes.
Browse by a colour family or by warm, cool, pastel and contrasting treatments. The two-colour selector offers another starting point when a project already has a pair to work around.
Palette #4816, for example, includes olive values #2E3604 and #4E5E07, the gold #E19D29 and two neutrals. Its page provides copyable codes, a photograph credit and links to similar entries. Tags connect combinations as well as individual colours.
Image reuse is separate from choosing colours. The site says it cannot transfer rights to most of its photographs; images tagged Alex Romanuke can be requested from the team. Its Terms of Use links CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, which requires attribution and restricts commercial use and distribution of modified licensed material.
Strengths
- Photographs show the context behind each manually chosen combination.
- Tags and similar-palette links connect related colour directions.
Watch out for
- The site cannot transfer reuse rights to most photographs.
- Its linked content licence restricts commercial use and redistributed adaptations.
Best for
- Finding a colour direction from a photograph or an existing pair of colours.
