What it does
Colorsinspo connects palette browsing, image colour extraction, contrast checks, colour scales and brand-guide tools. Its image extractor runs in the browser, and its guide builder adds names, roles and usage notes to a palette.
Drop or paste an image into the extractor, then choose Dominant, Balanced or a mode focused on vivid, muted, light or dark colours. Rectangle and circle selections isolate part of the picture. The picker can add an exact point that automatic extraction missed. Files can be up to 20 MB, and the curated palette holds three to 50 colours.
For an approved palette, enter a brand name in the guide builder and group opaque HEX colours by role. Add a name and usage note to each swatch, then preview its numeric formats and suggested black or white foreground. The guide supports 24 colours across six groups, with at most 12 per group.
Copy CSS or a flat JSON token map for implementation; download the fuller JSON backup to retain notes and groups. A share link contains a fixed snapshot. Later edits need a new link, and anyone holding the old URL can still read it because links cannot be revoked.
Strengths
- Image extraction can focus on a selected region or an exact pixel.
- Brand-guide exports retain more context than a list of swatches.
Watch out for
- Shared guide links cannot be revoked or updated in place.
- The guide accepts opaque HEX values rather than alpha colours.
Best for
- Designers developing an image-based palette and documenting its roles
