What it does
A school English-language-arts library with texts, skills lessons and complete teaching units.
CommonLit lets a teacher begin with a single reading text or plan a longer unit. Its text library and skills-based lessons serve a different planning task from the CommonLit 360 curriculum and wider school services. Choose a text around the reading skill you want pupils to discuss, then use a complete unit when you need a connected sequence. Ask learners to support their interpretation with a detail from the passage.
The text library lists grades three through twelve, while the complete curriculum is described for grades six through twelve. Teacher materials are free; school implementation, support and data services have a separate paid offer.
Strengths
- Supports both individual text lessons and larger units
