What it does
Computop Paygate connects ecommerce, point-of-sale and telephone-order payments with merchant systems and acquiring banks. Its modular setup lets a business choose payment methods and integrations for its customer markets. Merchants start through Computop’s sales team and receive a Merchant ID for their integration.
A Hosted Payment Page sends the buyer from your shop to a payment-method selector. Depending on the choice, they continue to a Computop form or the provider’s form. Paygate then reports the payment result to the shop. A server-to-server connection gives developers a different route for sending transaction details directly.
The response’s Code field distinguishes success from particular errors. During development, use the documented simulation or downstream test mode for the selected method, with test data. Simulation can return a chosen response code so the shop’s handling of unsuccessful payments can be checked as well as successful ones.
Live activation is a separate step: send the Merchant ID and planned activation date to the helpdesk and wait for confirmation. Discuss the required acquiring relationships, markets, contract charges and settlement arrangements with the sales team before that change.
Strengths
- Cross-channel workflows include click-and-collect and in-store returns of online purchases.
- Computop Analytics groups authorization, capture and refund steps and exports payment data.
- Batch Manager accepts CSV payment-order files and returns transaction statuses in the processed file.
Watch out for
- Not every interface is available for every payment method.
- Downstream test systems are available only for supported methods; simulation and production have different behavior.
Best for
- Retailers connecting shop, website and telephone-order systems
- Development teams integrating several acquiring routes
