What it does

CoolColor Space extracts palettes from video clips or a selected frame. It processes files in the browser and exports colours for CSS, SCSS, JSON and Tailwind projects.

A clip-wide palette and a single-scene palette answer different questions. For the whole clip, choose five to 15 colours and sample five to 20 frames. The tool takes evenly spaced moments, omits the first and last frame, and gives each sampled frame equal weight in the combined palette.

For one moment, pause the preview and use Palette of the current frame. That extracts the image currently shown by the player. The output includes both the combined palette and the individual sampled-frame colours.

Files can be up to 500 MB. MP4, WebM, OGG and MOV containers are accepted only when the browser can decode the video inside. Export choices include CSS variables, JSON, SCSS, a JavaScript array, a Tailwind v3 colours object or a Tailwind v4 theme block. The site offers these palette tools free; video analysis stays on the device.

Strengths

  • Whole-clip and current-frame extraction support different reference choices.
  • The output retains per-frame colours as well as a combined palette.
  • Tailwind exports distinguish v3 configuration from v4 theme output.

Watch out for

  • Files are limited to 500 MB and browser-supported codecs.
  • Evenly spaced sampling can miss a brief colour change between sampled moments.

Best for

  • Deriving a palette from a video sequence or chosen shot
