What it does
CoolWallet combines card-format hardware devices with a mobile app that can manage hardware-backed accounts and a free HOT software wallet. The app supports one hot wallet and multiple cold-wallet connections. Pro and S use Bluetooth, while Go uses battery-free NFC cards.
The account type matters in CoolWallet: a balance displayed in the same app may belong to its software wallet or to a separate hardware card. The connection and recovery routine depends on the model.
| Hardware option | Current price | Connection and display |
|---|---|---|
| CoolWallet Pro | USD 149 | Bluetooth card with a display and battery |
| CoolWallet Go, two-card set | USD 69 | Battery-free NFC cards without a display |
Pair a Pro or S card
Choose Setup my CoolWallet Pro/S in the app and allow Bluetooth. Turn on the card with its button, choose its serial number and select Pair. Enter the code displayed on the card and confirm with its button. The Go model follows its own NFC process instead of this Bluetooth routine.
Go's two cards initially serve the same wallet as primary and backup. A backup card can be promoted to primary, after which the former primary loses that role. The eight-digit pairing password is needed for important recovery and phone-change operations; it cannot be reset or recovered. Repeated incorrect entries can permanently lock the card after five attempts.
Go can generate a key on the card without displaying a recovery phrase, making its backup cards and pairing password central to that arrangement. Phrase-import and manual-backup options are separate choices, so the same recovery assumptions should not be applied to every Go setup.
The app also provides purchase, swap and application-browsing services. Their provider conditions and charges are separate from the free HOT module and the one-time hardware purchase.
Strengths
- Hardware wallets can be named separately in the app
- Multiple cold-wallet connections can coexist with one HOT wallet
Watch out for
- Pro/S and Go require different pairing instructions
- Go has no screen for independent transaction-detail review
- Losing the Go pairing password or exhausting its attempts can block access
Best for
- People organizing several CoolWallet cards alongside a software wallet
- Mobile users comparing Bluetooth hardware with battery-free NFC cards
