What it does
CountWordsFree combines a word and character counter with text comparison, stop-word and words-to-pages utilities.
Paste text, load a document from disk or provide a URL, then inspect word, character and phrase statistics. PDF, Word, HTML and EPUB content is extracted to plain text, so the result does not preserve the source layout. Set phrase-length or occurrence thresholds and stopword exclusions for the analysis you need. Save As can export the text as PDF, Word or EPUB. Its page estimate uses a 12 pt font, a stated 0.5 pt margin and single spacing; treat it as an estimate rather than the document's actual pagination. The counting service is free.
