What it does
Crazy Egg combines website analytics, heatmaps, session recordings, surveys and A/B testing. Its permanent Free plan covers traffic and conversion analytics, Instant Heatmaps and popup surveys. Paid plans add recording capacity, detailed heatmap reports and, from Plus upward, experimentation tools.
Crazy Egg gives website teams tools for both investigation and experimentation. The free account starts with traffic and conversion reports, Instant Heatmaps, a live activity feed and popup surveys. After signup, open Install Crazy Egg in the sidebar to get the tracking code, or use an integration such as Google Tag Manager, Shopify or WordPress.
For A/B testing, create a variant with the Visual Page Editor or point a split-URL test at an existing page. Set a goal such as a button click, form submission or confirmation-page visit. Traffic can be split manually or shifted automatically toward better-performing variants. Results include conversion rates, statistical significance and behavior views for each design; preview and result links can be shared without requiring colleagues to log in.
The paid range has a 30-day trial and standard annual billing. Starter includes 5,000 tracked pageviews and 50 recordings per month; Plus adds A/B testing and a larger allowance. Domains and team members are unlimited. Pageview and recording quotas are separate, and hitting a monthly limit pauses collection until the first of the following month or an upgrade. There are no automatic overage charges.
