What it does

CS50 introduces computational thinking, algorithms, data structures and programming with problem sets across several subject contexts.

Start with the foundational sequence rather than choosing a later language topic at random. The curriculum emphasizes correctness, design and style as well as producing an answer. Keep the problem-set work central, since it tests whether the lecture ideas can become your own program. A free audit route and a free CS50 certificate are available; edX also sells a verified certificate. Certificate participants register with edX and must pass every required assignment. Academic credit depends on the receiving institution and the eligible verified route.
