What it does
DaFont is a font catalog organized by themes, authors and new releases. Its listings identify usage labels, while its guidance directs visitors to the author and included agreement for definitive terms.
DaFont organizes its catalog by theme, author and recent releases, with a usage label beside each Download button. Open a font's page to inspect its character map before choosing it for a title with accents, numbers or unusual punctuation. Author pages are useful for finding related lettering from the same designer.
Downloads are ZIP archives. Extract the font files before installation, then reopen your design application if the new face is missing from its font list. The download service is free, but the catalog mixes freeware, shareware, demos and public-domain releases. DaFont explicitly says its licence label is only an indication: the included readme and the author's own terms determine permitted use. An absent label does not mean the font is free for a commercial project.
Strengths
- Provides theme and author-based discovery.
- Explains the limits of its own licensing labels.
Watch out for
- The catalog mixes personal-use, demo and other license types.
- A listing label alone does not establish production rights.
Best for
- Exploring distinctive display and lettering styles.
- Finding and following individual font authors.
