What it does
darktable is an open-source photography workflow application with a zoomable lighttable, digital-negative database and RAW development.
Inspect the shoot in lighttable and develop chosen images nondestructively; full conversion happens at export. Select the output target and filename template, then decide whether existing names should gain a unique suffix, be overwritten, be overwritten only if changed, or be skipped. Overwrite confirmation applies once to the job, so review that setting before starting. Export runs in the background. Give multiple presets distinct paths, and expand groups when their selected hidden members must be exported: collapsed-group images are excluded.
Strengths
- Image management and RAW development together
- Documented nondestructive editing workflow
Watch out for
- Overwrite confirmation is per job, and selected images hidden in collapsed groups are excluded from export.
Best for
- Developing and organizing a photography collection
