What it does
Data.gov catalogues US government datasets and links the organisations and resources behind them.
Search by subject, then narrow by organisation, keywords or geography. A dataset page identifies the publisher and available resource formats; Access & Use records the supplied licence and access level. Data.gov harvests metadata and links to agency resources rather than hosting the underlying data. A metadata check date does not establish when an agency measured or updated the data.
Strengths
- Organisation and geography filters
- Dataset pages separate resource links from access and use conditions
Best for
- Finding the agency and access route for US public datasets
