What it does
Dave's Garden provides plant, bug and bird reference files, gardening articles and community forums. It also links to frost-date resources, Garden Watchdog and PlantScout.
Dave's Garden offers several distinct research paths. Plant Files is the appropriate entrance for a plant query, while Bug Files or Bird Files address organisms seen around it. Frost-date resources help frame a timing question, and Garden Watchdog provides a separate supplier-research route. Start with that specific tool rather than the general community feed. The public feed mixes gardening discussion with unrelated promotional posts, so the reference sections are a more focused entry point. Articles and forums also differ in form: an authored explanation and a member discussion should be read with their respective context in mind.
Strengths
- Separate reference tools address plants, garden wildlife and suppliers
Watch out for
- The public community feed includes unrelated promotional posts
Best for
- Looking up garden plants or related reference information
