What it does

Deputy manages employee schedules, time records and workforce operations. Team members can offer a shift to someone else or exchange it for a future shift when their location enables those options. A trial account can be upgraded to a paid workforce plan.

Open an upcoming Deputy shift and choose Can't Work. Offer Shift seeks someone to take it; Swap Shift exchanges it for a colleague's future shift. Choose eligible colleagues and send the request. The original employee remains responsible until acceptance and any required approval.

Swaps can present several alternatives, but cannot trade one shift for several. An optional request message goes to the notified colleague, not managers.

Plans and billing

Plan Main scheduling scope
Lite Basic scheduling, timesheets, clocking and shift replacement
Core Adds automated scheduling, forecasts and labor budgets
Pro Adds custom permissions, location hierarchies and company sign-in

Monthly and annual subscriptions are available. Monthly plans have a minimum bill of USD 30, AUD 30 or GBP 20 per invoice, depending on the account's region. Managers and administrators count as users. Adding or archiving someone during a month still incurs that person's full monthly charge. Payroll and HR modules have separate prices and regional availability.

After the trial expires, data is frozen until a paid plan is chosen. Use Choose Plan from the trial account to select a package.

Strengths

  • Employees can initiate coverage requests from upcoming shifts
  • Location settings control whether swaps need manager approval

Watch out for

  • One shift cannot be exchanged for several shifts
  • Monthly user charges are not prorated for mid-month additions or archiving

Best for

  • Shift-based teams letting employees arrange coverage within location-level settings
