What it does

Scalable Capital offers brokerage accounts, recurring savings plans, portfolio analysis and price alerts in six European markets. Eligible adults can choose the FREE account model or pay for PRIME+. Its catalogue includes shares, funds, bonds and exchange-traded products, including products that track cryptocurrencies.

A recurring savings plan can start at €1, with no execution fee in either Scalable Broker model. To change one, open Savings Plans, select the plan and adjust its amount, date, frequency or inflation adjustment. Confirm with Set up savings plan. Delete savings plan deactivates it, although a very late change may miss an already pending execution.

Scalable's instrument catalogue separates shares, funds, ETFs, bonds and other products. A crypto exchange-traded product tracks a cryptocurrency; it is not the same as holding the coin directly. Savings plans can accumulate fractional holdings, while direct purchases of individual fractions are unavailable.

FREE or PRIME+?

FREE has no monthly charge. On the European Investor Exchange, normal orders cost €0.99; purchases of selected PRIME partner ETFs of at least €250 have no order fee. PRIME+ costs €4.99 a month and removes the order fee for trades of at least €250 on that venue; smaller trades cost €0.99.

Ordinary Xetra and gettex orders cost €1.99 in both models, with separate derivative conditions. Product costs, spreads and crypto charges can still apply. FREE supports alerts for up to three securities and one portfolio group; PRIME+ expands these tools. Check the venue as well as the account model when comparing an order's cost.

Who can open an account?

The service is for residents of Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, metropolitan France and the Netherlands who are over 18 and are not U.S. persons for tax purposes. Applicants need a current bank account within the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) and a phone number from the European Economic Area (EEA).

Registration is online or through the app. The German route uses POSTIDENT identification, with video, electronic ID or post-office options. There is no minimum deposit, but a transfer of at least €1 verifies the reference bank account before investing.
