What it does
Design System Checklist is a free planning resource for building and growing a design system. It organizes design language, foundations, components and maintenance into checkable items with supporting reference links.
Select Get started and work through design language, foundations, components and maintenance. Tick the items your system covers. Foundations includes practical checks such as semantic colors and layout breakpoints; maintenance asks about getting-started documentation, component examples and browser support.
Choose Share, then Share your progress, to copy a link containing your checked selection. Progress is kept in the current browser. Opening someone’s shared link replaces that browser’s saved selection, so a link works as a snapshot rather than a live team checklist.
The complete checklist is free and does not require registration. Its authors describe the categories as guidelines to adapt to your system, rather than a definitive list for every project.
Strengths
- Foundations and ongoing maintenance are considered in one planning resource.
- Reference links and contribution guidance encourage traceable additions.
Watch out for
- Opening a shared checklist replaces the selection already saved in that browser.
Best for
- Teams assessing gaps in a design-system programme
