What it does

Digits combines a general ledger, transaction categorization, reconciliations and financial reporting with connected bank, card and payroll data. Business owners can invite their accountant into the same books. Paid plans start at $65 per month after a 30-day trial.

Connected bank, credit-card, expense and payroll records provide the inputs for transaction categorization and bookkeeping. Flagging, reviews and quality checks help organize the entries that need attention.

Review the statement before closing the account

In Accounting > Reconciliations, drop a bank-statement PDF into the workspace or upload it against the account. Open the draft to compare the statement, ledger entries and flagged differences. You can add a missing transaction, correct its date or unmatch a duplicate.

The unreconciled difference must be zero and the ending bank and ledger balances must agree before you select Finalize, then Confirm. Earlier periods must be finalized first. Reopening an earlier reconciliation means later ones need to be finalized again.

Plans and availability

Plan Monthly price What changes
Essentials $65 Ledger, bookkeeping, reconciliation and standard financials
Core $100 Adds department/location tracking and automated schedules
Pro $250, coming soon Advertised future tier, including budget-versus-actual reporting

A 30-day trial is available. Additional entities have a free allowance of 250 transactions per year; above that, prices start at $35 per month. This allowance applies to added entities, not a free primary accounting plan. Custom reports and dashboards in Essentials and Core are available through firm partners.

Move existing books across

Create an account with your email, choose the previous platform and either import the chart of accounts or use Digits' categories. Set the date when Digits takes over, then upload a trial balance or enter opening balances. That overall start date cannot be changed after it is set. Bank connections can be added during setup or later.

For Xero, Puzzle and other platforms, this is a migration rather than a direct ongoing sync. A tax package helps hand the books to the tax preparer; Digits does not file the tax return.

Strengths

  • A finalized reconciliation preserves the reviewed statement-to-ledger match
  • Standard financials include profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow

Watch out for

  • The Pro tier is still marked coming soon
  • The overall accounting start date cannot be changed after setup
  • Reopening an earlier reconciliation requires later periods to be finalized again

Best for

  • Small businesses moving their accounting into a ledger shared with their accountant
