What it does
dLocal provides local payment collection, payouts and account tools for international businesses serving emerging markets. Its products cover checkout, marketplace fund distribution and invoice collection. Businesses arrange service and commercial terms with the sales team before going live.
A marketplace starts by onboarding its own entity for a Platform account. That account sets the default methods, fees and settlement period for its users. Add separate User accounts for sellers, contractors or service providers, then complete the verification required in the target market. A platform can have a country-specific account because these settings differ between countries.
For business invoices, dLocal can convert a USD amount into the customer's local currency and consolidate collection reporting. This suits a company whose customers need to pay from local banking arrangements while the finance team manages receivables centrally.
Costs can include transaction percentages, currency-conversion spreads, setup and monthly account fees, and negotiated minimum-volume charges. Installments or optional services can add other costs. The FAQ describes a standard 14-day settlement timeframe, with alternatives negotiated for individual businesses. Check the agreed schedule and currency conversion together because payment collection and receipt in the merchant's bank account are separate events.
Available products and payment methods depend on the intended market. Discuss the entity being onboarded and the countries being served before choosing the collection or payout setup.
