What it does
DNSChecker provides a browser DNS lookup across a list of public resolvers in multiple regions, with expected-value checks and report export controls.
Select the hostname and record type, then compare each resolver’s answer with the intended value. Exact match, contained text and regular-expression comparisons help distinguish an expected record from a merely successful response. The interface also provides a refresh interval, a custom-server control and print or PNG, JPEG, PDF and SVG chart output. Keep the record type, observation time and resolver list with an exported chart. DNSChecker describes a selected list of public resolvers across regions; agreement in that list is a sample of cached answers, not proof that every visitor, browser or ISP resolves the same way. A map summary should not replace inspecting the individual values.
Strengths
- Expected-value comparison controls
- Chart export formats
Watch out for
- Selected public resolvers are a sample of possible client resolvers
