What it does
DocRaptor provides a hosted API for HTML-to-PDF conversion with Prince. Its document controls include mixed page styles, recurring headers and footers, forms, bookmarks, and print marks.
Submit HTML or a document URL and select PDF; synchronous conversion returns the file directly, while longer jobs can use asynchronous status handling. Check print versus screen media and set a base URL for relative assets. JavaScript is disabled by default. The free plan lists five production documents per month, alongside unlimited watermarked tests. Hosted test files allow five downloads and expire after one day. DocRaptor runs Prince as a hosted service, with its own plans rather than the local engine's licences.
Strengths
- Makes Prince's paged-media features available through a hosted API.
Watch out for
- Development PDFs are watermarked; hosted test files expire after one day and allow five downloads.
Best for
- Applications requiring detailed PDF layout without a self-hosted renderer
