What it does
Imprivata Privileged Access includes a secret vault, personal credential storage and controlled retrieval for privileged-access workflows, with features depending on the licensed product.
Imprivata's current release notes distinguish a user's personal secrets from shared corporate credentials. Personal Secrets can hold passwords and SSH keys and can be selected for a brokered connection without the normal checkout approval. Check the licensing boundary: the notes limit this capability to PAM customers or VPAM customers with an additional PAM license. The separate emergency-access workflow also deserves evaluation, including which administrators can retrieve cached credentials when the primary service is unavailable.
Strengths
- Personal and corporate credential workflows
- Documented emergency credential-access option
Watch out for
- Some vault capabilities require PAM licensing beyond VPAM
Best for
- Organizations evaluating privileged vaulting with personal and emergency credential access
